The South Hams is embraced by the glorious unspoilt 52 miles of South Devon coastline forming, along with the lower Avon and Dart valleys, the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's beaches, having won more clean water awards than any other district in Britain, are second to none and accompanied by unspoilt countryside.

Along with Broadsands near Paignton, the South Hams is the last British refuge of the Cirl Bunting.... a twitcher's paradise. Within the South Hams lie the delightful towns and villages of Bigbury, Dartmouth, Hope Cove, Ivybridge, Kingsbridge, Modbury, Salcombe, Thurlestone and Totnes. These are recognised as some of the prettiest towns in the country, each with its own individual charm. The area geographically sits south of the beautiful moorlands of Dartmoor, East of the historic naval port of Plymouth and South West of Torbay.

The South Hams has for years been a renowned and popular destination, yet kept as a closely guarded secret to those in the know. It's late Winters and early Springs make this an all year round destination and greatly appreciated for it's fantastic climate.Salcombe Estuary

Kingsbridge, with it's convenient central position, is considered to be the capital of South Hams and is a good base with it's accessibility to the Salcombe Estuary.

The attractive estuary town of Salcombe offers a wide range of watersports, to include fishing and charter trips, scuba diving and is a fantastic location for sailing. It has some of the best coastal and cliff walking throughout the area offering the superbly clean beaches of South and North Sands.
